6 - Definitions of Health Outcomes of Interest
Task: Define and evaluate the definitions of Health Outcomes of Interest
OMOP will design a systematic process for establishing definitions of Health Outcomes of Interest (HOI) (derived from the designated medical event list) that can be applied to observational databases. This process will include systematic review of literature of past observational studies for the HOI, as well as descriptive review of the definitions within the Research Core databases. Each of the HOIs selected for experimentation by the Research Core will be reviewed using the agreed procedure.
Deliverable: OMOP will publish a guidance document for how to establish best practice definitions of Health Outcomes of Interest for identification and evaluation, including documenting the relevant needs for source record retrieval, and will establish a public repository of HOI definitions for those outcomes already studied.
