8 - Performance characteristics

Task: Performance characteristics

OMOP intends to objectively evaluate the ability of methods to generate appropriate hypotheses about drug-condition associations. Methods for monitoring known events (HOIs) and exploring all non-specific conditions (e.g. data mining) will be considered separately. Performance will be measured by using reference associations from the literature (the drug-HOI pair list) and labeled events from a sample of products. Methods will be applied to both simulated data and the Research Core databases. Separate OMOP testing will apply to methods for monitoring known events and testing data mining approaches.

Deliverable: OMOP will publish summaries of the performance characteristics for each method and each Research Core database. The OMOP Extended Consortium will be encouraged to provide their findings to build the body of evidence across other data sources.
